Facebook could be sitting on a gold mine of local business listings, which would be loved by the advertisers as well as users, but will not be appreciated by Google as Facebook Places catches the eye of company’s 500 million users.
Like Google has built its own database for local business listings tied to the Google Maps service. It means that someone is looking out for something and also provides the location; the users will have loads of search result to browse for, Facebook Places has some familiar idea with a social-media twist in it.
Facebook users can search an existing list of nearby locations and at the same time can add their own locations and share it with their friends through their mobile service too. This feature will help Facebook to grow strong in local business listing, and will place it near to the services like Google, Yelp, and others loads of companies looking out for local advertising business.
Can Facebook Places change the attitude of people and their way to search out for information, they need.
Will internet users keep on typing the queries in the Google search or people will shift them to this new social networking new feature.
Already Facebook has forced companies to invest time and money in making the Facebook pages and merge both Pages as well as Places to avoid any confusion. Google already might have seen the intention of the Facebook. Google already has tried to enter in the social media activity from their end, but unfortunately failed at all time.
However, it is also true that Facebook will take a bit of time to create its own database and it is matter of time how much fame does Facebook places will be able to get, but in the meantime it is expected that Google too will take some precautionary measure in order to avoid any damage to them through the launch of Facebook Places.
